The Project from Mullengandra to Table Top in NSW is subject to 86 Conditions of approval

Concept Approval under Section 750 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, relating to the duplication of the project between Sturt Highway and Mullengandra, was given 20 July 2007. Signed Concept Approval

Project Approval, in relation to the Woomargama to Mullengandra section of the project, was given 29 August 2007. Signed Project Approval

The conditions include requirements for monitoring, assessment, reporting and consultation when undertaking works. These conditions include monitoring and compliance requirements for noise and vibration during construction and provide guidance on the processes required for community involvement and environmental management.

The following is a list of key authorities and their area of responsibility for the Hume Highway duplication: Woomargama to Table Top.

NSW Department of Planning (DoP)

DoP is responsible for approval of various environmental and management plans as required under the Conditions of Approval for the project.

DoP also regulates activities that impact on watercourses, riparian zones and groundwater within Crown lands, and soil management issues.

 

NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC)

The DECC regulates:
  • Air quality, water quality, and noise.
  • Contaminated soils and waste management.
  • National Parks and reserves, biodiversity and threatened species in accordance with the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974.
  • Indigenous heritage.

Approval authority for activities that impact or potentially impact on non indigenous heritage items.

 

Department of Primary Industries (DPI)
